Paper:"Genesis - A Rewrite"
God created light and separated Day from Night. She created the seas and made dry land. She created the vegetation for the dry land, and the sun and the moon. She then created living creatures, from sea beings to flying birds, and told them to flourish and multiply. Next, She created humankind in reflection of Her image. God gave humans complete dominion over the other living beings of the earth and the seas, including plants. God rested on the seventh day. She designated the seventh day as a day that should be universally used as a rest, work-free day. God formed a single person from the dust of the ground and breathed life into the nostrils, thus making a living, asexual human. A garden, called Eden, was formed as a home for this human. A garden was chosen since it clearly represented a feminine atmosphere. God filled the garden with vegetation that was pleasing to the eye and good for food. A tree of knowledge of good and evil was also placed in the garden of Eden. This human’s job was to tend to the garden and maintain it. The human was allowed to eat anything it wanted, except from the tree of knowledge, which would put the human to death. God did not think that the human should be alone. So She made another asexual human physically equal to the first. The first human was named Madame for regality. A rib was taken from Madame during a deep sleep. This rib was used to create the second, equal human. This second human was named Eve. Both humans were naked, but neither possessed genitalia. Neither was ashamed to be naked. One day Madame came upon a very phallic-looking snake. Madame liked the long, sleek appearance of the snake, giving the snake persuasive power over Madame. The snake told Madame that the tree of knowledge was good for food and pleasant to the eye, therefore it was okay to eat from it. So Madame ate from the tree, going against all the information God had said. Madame took the food from the tree and gave it to Eve to eat as well. God came to the garden and called for Madame. He wanted to know why Madame ate from the tree he had said not to eat from. Madame explained that the intriguingly shaped snake was deceiving. It was the snake’s fault! God reacted with the very harsh punishment of turning Madame into a man. His new name was Adam. Since Adam liked the snake so much and allowed the snake to do the thinking, She cursed all men by giving them a permanent snake between their legs. This ‘snake’ was given the ability to have a mind of its own. God made Eve into a woman with appropriate genitalia. God punished Adam further by taking away all men’s right to give birth to children. This incredible gift was given solely to women forever. Even though Eve had been tricked into eating from the tree of knowledge, she couldn’t go unpunished. Her gift of childbirth was also accompanied by great pain; the greatest pain a woman will ever physically feel. To Adam, God said that he shall desire his wife, Eve. That she will rule over him, since she holds the power of reproduction. |
