Title: "Tonya's Maid of Honor Speech"
Description: This is the speech I gave at Jennifer and Jerod's wedding.
Date written: September 2001
I’ve known Jennifer now for a few years, and in the duration of these years, we have become incredibly close. I remember
the first time I met Jennifer I was so intimidated by her. She seemed so cool and far above me. We became friends and I
was overwhelmed to have her friendship. We started hanging out more and more, and our friendship kept getting stronger and
stronger.
There are so many moments that I will never forget. All the parties, all the times at the Hangar, the shopping trips, the
time we snuck into Pricilla’s, all the long girl talks, all the laughter we’ve shared, even all the tears we’ve shed. She
makes me feel like so lucky. She helped make my senior pictures just a little more glamorous. She came to my high school
graduation when a lot of my other friends decided they had better things to do. Last year in November she flew out to New
York to share my birthday with me. We had so much fun going all over the city, dancing the night away at a club, posing
for pictures with the New York Police Department, climbing atop the famous bull statue in the financial district,
journeying across the Hudson River on the Staten Island Ferry, and of course taking a trip to the top of the Empire State
Building.
She’s always there to let me cry about whatever crisis I’m having at the moment. And no matter what, she always manages to
make me feel better. I’ve enjoyed becoming close to her family as well. Jennifer has one of the coolest moms ever.
Billie has always been so kind and accepting of me. That really means a lot!
Jennifer made a big effort for me to get to know Jerod. I have to admit; my first impression of him wasn’t all that
great. However, I think it’s just because he didn’t talk enough or something, because I couldn’t have been more wrong.
I’ve gotten to know him a lot better, and I truly feel he is an extraordinary guy. I don’t know how Jennifer managed to
find such a complete match. I mean, one of his favorite movies is Romeo and Juliet, and you just can’t go wrong with
someone that has that quality.
Jerod and Jennifer have something together that is so hard to find. I’m so happy for them! I feel truly honored to be a
part of something so perfect! I wish for Jennifer, who I love just like a sister as well as a best friend, and Jerod, who I
now consider one of my closest friends, a very joyful and carefree life together! They will have beautiful children!
Congratulations!
