If you'd like to contact me: TMF222@YAHOO.COM Finest Hour December 19, 2005 - 5:06 pm So it's been a while since I made a post. It's been on my to-do list for the past two months...anyways, onto the updates. My birthday was about a month ago. It was a pretty good birthday all-in-all. A few days before my actual birthday I received a very unexpected present in the mail from my friend, Melissa (who now lives in Las Vegas). It was such a thoughtful present, and I felt very special that she remembered me! My co-workers made my actual birthday really special. The day started with my boss, Marissa, giving me a bouquet of pink roses. They were SO pink! I loved them! They looked very pretty on my desk. Our office was going through a bunch of renovations that day, so I wasn't really expecting any kind of office party, especially since both of my bosses were leaving at 3 pm. Marissa brought in little Pandora around lunch time, which I considered part of my birthday present. I adore that little dog! Around 3 pm, my bosses were getting ready to leave. Marissa came over to my desk, and we were talking. Then, all of a sudden, everyone was around my desk, singing Happy Birthday. I don't know how they managed to gather around like that without me noticing. I was really surprised. They got me a cookie cake that was SO delicious! Another thing that made my birthday special was the mail! I received all of my family's presents in the mail that day. I don't know how they managed to time it so perfectly. So I spent my evening watching 'The OC' and opening the presents from my family. It was a good day! The Saturday after my birthday I had a party at my apartment to celebrate with my friends. Blake came over early to help me get ready. His present to me was some chocolate cake that he'd made himself. It was sweet! Courtnie came over early too. She'd brought some chips and dip (hummus and homemade onion...yummmy!!). Then after everything was ready, Blake, Courtnie, and I waited for the guests to arrive. When everything was quiet, I started thinking and totally got lost in my head, which brought on a mini-panic from the idea of being a party host. Courtnie sat me down and gave me some advice, since she has parties often. It was fine. Then my friends started to arrive. It was great! Bart and Alex came. Nancy and her boyfriend came. Brandon came. Masai and Jennifer came. Ernest and his girlfriend came. And Cherish was there of course. SOOOO much fun. Everyone left around 2 am, including Cherish. It was the perfect ending! I was so excited to just go in my room and watch a Freddy Krueger movie. Since my last post: I've gone home to Iowa twice. I couldn't get the time off work around Thanksgiving, so I went home on Columbus Day instead. And then, ironically, at the last minute my mom got a super cheap flight for Thanksgiving. So I celebrated Turkey Day twice with the family. It was great! I've had the priviledge of watching Cherish and Courtnie perform. Courtnie was in a play called 'Deviant,' and Cherish was in a play called 'The American Dream (and Other Fractured Fairy Tales).' Watching my friends perform their hearts out and doing something they both love was an absolute treat! They were both so good too! Cherish had a singing solo, plus an extremely long monologue. She was stressing about the song, which made me really nervous for her. But she totally nailed it! I was so proud of her! Her family was in the audience that night, which made it more special. The monologue was very powerful. Cherish had such passion! Courtnie was on-stage pretty much the whole time, and she was amazing as always! I've been spending more and more time with Bart. There were a few bumps in the beginning, but we worked through them, and we're in a really good place right now. It is SO wonderful to finally be back (pretty much) to the way we were before our big fight. I can't believe we didn't speak for so long! I don't know what I was thinking. I had the pleasure of seeing one of my favorite 80s movies on the big screen. I saw 'Teen Witch,' and best of all, Robyn Lively (Teen Witch herself) was there in person to introduce the film. Todd was supposed to go with me, but he bailed a few hours before...so Cherish went with me instead. It was SOOOO much fun! Robyn looks exactly the same. She pulled one of the fans out of the audience, and the two of them performed her "finest hour" dance together. It was great! Then the movie started ("Never gonna be the same again, never gonna be...the same again")! The audience was full of fans, so people were cheering and clapping in all of the appropriate and notorious moments. I'm so happy that I got to see it on the big screen! I've seen some pretty good movies lately (besides 'Teen Witch' of course). I'm totally obsessed with 'Walk the Line.' I don't think Joaquin Phoenix could be any hotter. Whew, just thinking about him in this movie... And his performance is amazing! I plan to see it for a third time while I'm home for the holidays. Another movie I'm hooked on is King Kong. I've always liked this story since it's essentially a love story. But there was no way I could have ever predicted my experience with this remake. I don't want to give anything away or build up anyone's expectations, but seriously...this one of the best movies I've ever seen EVER! If you plan to see it, I only have one piece of advice for you...remember to breathe. Because you WILL forget! |
