It's been so long since I actually updated this site with stuff that's been happening in my life that I don't really know where to begin. The last few months have been absolutely crazy! Almost everything has changed slightly.

One tragic change is that my dog, Kelly, died. I was in the middle of doing my laundry when my mom called me. My mom was hysterically crying. It was awful. Apparently what happened was this: a family friend was over at our house and it was a really hot day. Kelly went under the friend's truck to be in the shade. The friend didn't realize she was under there when he left, and he ran over her. It's just so devastating, and everytime I think about it I want to cry. My poor mom though! I think my mom blames herself, and I wish I could convince her otherwise. My family gave Kelly a very good home. She had so many people that loved her!

My aunt Karen has been having some serious health problems lately. After my uncle found her in a state so horrible that I won't even describe it, she spent several days in the hospital. The doctors concluded that she had a brain tumor. Yeah, my family hasn't had the best time lately. Karen was scheduled for her second brain surgery last Thursday, and when they were in the process of extracting the tumor, they realized that it wasn't a tumor afterall. I'm actually not sure what they said it was (or if they even know yet). It's definitely not good news that it's there, but it is good news that it isn't a tumor. And today we found out that there are no cancerous cells present. Still, though, I'm really upset with her neurosurgeon. It shouldn't have taken two surgeries to find out that it wasn't a tumor. There are other things, but there's no need to go into detail. He makes my surgeon look like a million dollars. So, I think Karen is going to ok, but this isn't over. It seems like we find out something new everyday.

Ok, on to more positive things, sort of. Sadly, I no longer work at Hallmark Entertainment. Legally, I couldn't keep working there. Everyone was extremely helpful, especially Beth. She sent my resume to every company she could think of, including her former employer, Dan Klores Communications. This company called me for an interview, and I found out that I'd be interviewing to be an assistant for Beth's old assistant (small world). I ended up interviewing with a lot of people and taking a writing test. I was nervous enough to just interview with one person! I left feeling really confident though. It only took two days for them to call me back for the second round of interviews. By the end of the second round, they had extended an offer to me. After carefully weighing my options, I decided that Dan Klores Communications (DKC) was the best option all around. So, that's where I work now. I assist two people. DKC is a public relations firm, and the clients that I work with are mainly hospitality related (high-end hotels, spas, gyms, restaurants, magazines, and an airline). I've been working here since the end of February. It's a really good job. I finally have health insurance and all the good things that come with a real-world job. More importantly though I have STABILITY. I absolutely love knowing that there isn't an expiration date attached to this job. And the people that I work with are extremely nice and have been very welcoming.

I'm moving! Things at my current apartment have gotten completely out of hand, and I can no longer stand one of my roommates. He is just way too dramatic, secretive, dirty and disrespectful. He's the source of every problem. I could handle the little things, like the lack of space, if it wasn't for him. But anyway...I'm moving in with Cherish! I'm very excited about it. My parents are flying out to help me move. The process of getting approved for the lease has been extremely stressful though, and I literally had a breakdown. Since my family makes less money than I do, they obviously weren't desirable candidates as guarantors. At one point I had no options and no time to figure out a Plan B, hence my breakdown. The same day that I had my breakdown and mentally screamed for someone to help me, my knight-in-shining-armor appeared out of the blue. Everything is going to be fine now. The new apartment is in Harlem, of all places! Who would have ever thought that I'd be living in Harlem!?! But the apt. is so nice and spacious! I really can't wait. It's going to be very comforting living with Cherish again, and this time we'll have our own rooms.

I'm still on my never-ending diet, which I think will be a struggle the rest of my life! But I'm confident that things will keep improving in that area. I've even started to date a little. Nothing serious, but dating is definitely a new thing.

I'm going home this weekend. My little man (Eric) is a senior in high school this year, and this weekend is his senior prom. I missed his junior prom, and there is no way that I could live with myself if I missed this year. I can't take time off from work since I haven't been here long enough, but even though I'm only going to be home for a day, it'll be completely worth it. Eric is going to look SO handsome in his tux. I can't wait!!! I just can't believe he's going to be graduating high school in a month. It's already starting to make me sentimental. I'm going to be a big cry-baby at the ceremony! He just shouldn't be this old yet!

One last thing...my family have two new pets, and you're never going to believe what type of animals they are. DUCKS!!! I'm so jealous that I usually refuse to talk about it with them, and even writing about it makes me insanely envious. My mom and Duane got a duck, and so did Eric. Mom says she got it for me, but come on...it's their pet. She even named it Howard! If you didn't know, it's one of my life goals to someday have a pet duck named Howard. The ducks are babies too... yellow babies! Ugh, I'm soooo jealous!
