Most Popular Girl

July 26, 2003 - 5:24 am

Much to tell! First of all, I would like to report that this past Sunday was Taylor County's annual Demolition Derby (aka my highlight of the summer). This year was tough! All the tough drivers were there. I was actually quite worried that I would make a complete fool of myself since I was up against so many good people. However, I still got FIRST place! I won! I won! I have yet another trophy to add to my collection! Duane built me my own car this year. I even had my own number (57)! And we painted my car yellow with black checkers down the sides (Eric's idea, to represent a taxo cab). It was a gift from Duane since it's my senior year of college. I've never had my own car, let alone my own number before! And guess what kind of car I was driving!!!!! A 1979 Fleetwood Cadillac.....it couldn't get any better! I'll try to post some pictures when I get them developed. So much fun! The only slight downer to the whole thing was that in the midst of hitting and crashing the cars, I managed to smash my mouth on the steering wheel. My mouth now looks like I was in the worst fist fight ever! It's so swolen! Oh well, the derby isn't that much fun unless you come out with some battle scars!

I left off last time right before the 4th of July. Time has flown by! It seems like all I do is work and sleep, work and sleep! I regret every day for going back to GEAR. I love the people, I don't mind the work, I just HATE the hours! Twelve hours straight should not be legal! It takes up all of my time! So anyways, back to other things. My 4th of July weekend was somewhat eventful. I decided not to make any plans this year, because I wasn't really in the mood to do anything. My mom and Duane had gone over to New Market (a nearby town) to watch the big fireworks celebration that they always have over there. I decided I'd drive over too, since I had nothing better to do. I ended up running into a bunch of friends from high school. We walked around for a little bit, then went to Matt's house for some drinks, then went to Bix's bar, then went to a tailgate party to watch the fireworks, then went to a house party at Doug's house, then we went to Levi's house for another party, then we went back to the bar. Needless to say, I was having quite a nice time. At the bar, I ran into a lot more people who I hadn't seen for a while. Fun fun fun! While I was explaining to one of my friends my philosophy on why the foos-ball table is racist, one of the guys playing pool catches my eye. He looked EXACTLY like a young Kiefer Sutherland......so unbelievably gorgeous! His name was Frank and we carried on a conversation until the bar closed. My friend Shanda was going to be staying at my house that night, so it was just her and I at the end of the night. Frank and his friend invited us back to their place. They had a big pool, so we all went swimming and just had a good time. Frank is the lead singer in a band (go figure...) so he sang some Staind songs for me...VERY sexy! It started to rain, which made the night even better! Yep, it was a good night!

The following day was Bedford's all-school reunion. That simply means that everyone who graduated from Bedford High School was getting together for a big party. I've never seen the bar in Bedford so crowded before! I was having an all right time. My whole family was there, so I couldn't have that good of a time, ya know. =) A lot of people were down at the Legion Building. My mom wanted to go down there to see some of her old friends, so I told her I'd go with her. Well, as soon as we got there, guess who walks out of the door! My dad, his wife, and Colt. I think I almost swallowed my tongue. I hadn't seen Colt for about 2 years. He just graduated from high school. He gave me a big hug and we talked for a bit. He's going to college up state in the fall. then my dad wandered over and asked me how I was doing. He made some stupid comments about money (as always) and was just really rude in general. Then his wife, Chris, came over. She was SO snotty! I couldn't believe how awful she was being! She told me that she'd tried to send me an invitation to Colt's graduation, but it must have gotten lost in the mail or something (ya right). I didn't really want to continue the conversation so I excused myself. As soon as I was gone I overheard Chris complaining, because they'd ran into me. I went inside to find my mom. I was definitely sad, and I guess it showed on my face, because Mom asked what they'd said. I tried SOOOO hard not to cry. I was biting my lip and everything. I knew I was going to lose it, so I quickly turned and told Mom I was going home. My voice cracked when I said that though, so she knew I was crying. She grabbed my arm and tried to talk to me about it. I hate it that I let them get to me like that. I say all the time how I don't care and that my dad means nothing to me. All it takes is a run-in with them though, and it makes me cry. Obviously it means something and I hate it. I hate him! Why can't he just be normal!? Blah...next day....

My friend, Tricia called me and said she was taking Shanda back to her dads down in Missouri. She wanted me to come along. We ended up eating at a chinese restaurant that I can't stand, but Shanda wanted to eat there, so we did. We shopped a little, then I talked them into seeing "Terminator 3:Rise of the Machines." I REALLY REALLY wanted to see this movie, and I couldn't talk Eric into seeing it with me. Tricia and Shanda didn't even want to see it. They made me miss the trailers, so I publically announced in the theater that I was pissed at them (comical). Ok, so T3 was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good! I LOVED it! I want to see it again! I just really really like the whole story, which is weird, because I don't normally like sci-fi things. Nick Stahl was playing the adult John Conner. It was such a good movie! It's the best movie I've seen all summer! I loved it so much!

Over the past few weeks, I've mostly worked. I've hung out with my friends a little bit, but I mostly stay home. I'm always so tired, and plus, I sleep during the day. I work the night shift, so I can't really mess up my sleeping schedule. I don't mind it, it just makes time go by too fast. I'm not even making that much money. It's totally not worth it. My mom and I have gotten into several fights about money. We always fight about money. Anyways...

My friend, Chelsey, left for the army a few days ago. I went to her going away party. It was all right. I didn't really know the people there. She hangs out with different people now. I accidentily spilled an entire beer down the front of my shirt. It was my first beer too, and I don't know how I missed my mouth so much. Usually when you drink, you sometimes hit your front teeth with the beer bottle or you hit your chin every once in a while, but I missed my face completely! I'm pretty sure I was just spacing off and forgot what I was doing...oh well. A fight broke out between Alex and Tashena. I was the peacekeeper. I provided the comic relief to the party. Tashena and ended up going to Maryville (I ended up buying two new dvds that night...'Pretty Woman' and 'Stephen King's IT').

Let's see...what else has happened....small little things have occured, but not interesting enough to comment on. Ragbraii came through Bedford this year. It hasn't come through Bedford for 11 years. It was ridiculous how Bedford reacted. You would have thought some celebrity was coming to town. The whole town went crazy! There was beer gardens on every block! It was just one HUGE party! It was like those comercials you see on tv for 'girls gone wild' tapes. I swear, all these skanky biker girls were flashing everyone! There were beads and beer galore! I had an ok time, but it was just crazy and stupid! I didn't even recognize the town! My mom's brand new car got hit too! We don't know if it was from a fight (i.e. someone getting thrown into the car) or if it was a biker. It doesn't look like a car hit it, but it's possible. It's almost $1500 worth of damage, which is something my mom definitely doesn't need right now!

I've only hung out with Christina once since I've been home. She lives with Robert again, and I refuse to go over to that house! I hate him so much! Christina went with me to the Hopkins Picnic. We had a lot of fun actually. We brought little Caitlin with us of course. She's so cute! Everyone wanted to hold her. I ran into my friend Mandy. Her and Jesse are finally engaged! They've been together since we were sophomores in high school. They were going to get married this last April, but she found out she was pregnant again, so they put the wedding off. Morgan, her little girl, is 4 now. She looks exactly like Jesse. She's such a cutie.

I got into an argument with my aunt last night at work. Well, it was her and Jon. I was assisting at their table all night long. We got into a political conversation. Both her and Jon love Bush. I couldn't believe how much they adore him! It was completely appalling! I didn't open up the 'gay right' subject because I wouldn't have been able to continue working at that table if we'd opened that up! But we did argue about abortion...gawd, it's hard to believe some of things people agree with! Then Jon started making fun of me, he was teasing me about my mouth (since it's so swollen) and about how I'm so snotty....and how I did terribly at the derby...as if!....Then my aunt agreed with everything he said. Grrr....my feelings were very much hurt! I know that Jon was just teasing, but my aunt wasn't. Other than that, work has been going really well. I usually get to work with Lorena, who is actually a childhood friend of mine. She is so great to work with. Our efficiency is always in the 100% range (never below 90%), and we talk about movies and music all night long. She's a big 80s fan, like me. We always seem to get stuck on the movie 'Teen Witch', a favorite of both of ours. Such a blast....I try to get her to sing the 'popular girl' theme song from that movie every night. So funny....then the other night we were talking about the movie "Beetlejuice", which is one of her favorites. I can't stand the movie. We started singing that 'day-o' song from the movie, exactly how Catherine O'Hara sang it in the movie. SOOOOO funny!

I saw the movie "Legally Blond 2" a week or so ago with Tashena. Some parts were ok, but overall, the movie was terrible. I was so sick of Reese Witherspoon by the time the movie was over! Bad movie alert, bad movie alert!!! I bought another dvd following the movie. I bought "The Lost Boys", starring Kiefer Sutherland and Jason Patric (both of which I'm a huge fan of). I've wanted this movie for a very long time! I also bought "Jaws", which I've wanted for a while too.

Eric, Mom, and I are going to play monopoly tonight. Eric really wanted to play. I also rented "The Rules of Attraction" for Eric and I to watch. I think he'll really enjoy the movie, but I'm a little nervous about what kind of comments he's going to make during the gay scenes. We'll see how it goes.
